I am looking to travel with my horse, what do I need?

Always Required

  • EIA (Coggins Test): 
    A blood test drawn by your veterinarian and sent to a lab. A printed copy must always accompany your health certificate.

Health Certificate:

  • CVI (Certified Veterinary Inspection): 
    Issued by your veterinarian before travel, accepted in all 50 states.

— OR —

  • EECVI (Extended Equine CVI):
    Available if traveling to a participating state. Issued by your vet, confirmed by the clinic, then viewable in your MyVetLink account where you can generate travel permits.
     

Important Reminders

  • Always carry printed copies of both the Coggins test and your health certificate.
  • For specific shows or events, confirm requirements with the event organizers and discuss with your vet before departure.
  • For international travel, consult your vet for country-specific requirements.
